She asked me to be on her podcast and we had a great interview. She opened the conversation asking why your comfort zone isn’t actually “comfortable.” Often you get set on autopilot because of your own lenses, both unconscious and conscious. Your default “way of being” isn’t always one that allows you to adapt and thrive.

Antifragility is defined as a property of systems that increase in capability to thrive as a result of stressors, shocks, volatility, noise, mistakes, faults, attacks, or failures. It’s more then just resilience, it’s the skill to adapt and thrive, and it’s what leads to self mastery.

Sonya is a World Champion Professional Cyclist. As an athlete and competitor, Sonya had great questions about performance bias, achievement, imposter syndrome, etc… Which lead to a useful discussion about why it’s important to gain self worth outside of your achievements.

If you can separate self worth from what your accomplishments are, you’ll be able to become more confident and less self concerned. Having that crucial skill allows you to enjoy what you’re doing instead of always striving to get to the “next thing.”
